In the spring of 1973 in the extremely small town of Athens, Ohio Marc Deering was born. Growing up he devoured everything that had to do with art. Drawing as a small child he dreamed of huge sci-fi epic battles between Manhattan sized space-ships and the warm cozy relaxing hobbit-holes of his favorite books.

At the tender age of 11, he decided his future lay in art. Somewhere. His influences ranged from Franklin Booth, Frank Lloyd Wright, Norman Rockwell, Andrew Loomis, George Bridgeman, Jack Kirby, Bernie Wrightson, Dave Sim, Thomas Cole, Patrick Nagel, and Moebius.

Somewhere along the line he chose comic inking as his chosen form of expression. Go figure. Marc has been working diligently in the small press field for the last six years, on a variety of books to include Timespell, Potlatch, and more recently, moving up to Avatar Press.

Marc has been married to his beautiful wife Keisha for 11 years and they have an 8 year old son, Max.

John and Marc also just scored the gig to resurrect the classic Image character “Blacklight.” Click here to see what they're up to these days.
