Yes, it took us long enough to get this page up, but producing the Candy books has turned out to be a lot more involved than we ever imagined.

In any case...

Below are links to the works of this month's featured poets.

David McFadden
Kathryn Alison Graves

Our goal here at "Dead End: City Limits" is to give anyone’s work that we feel is exceptional in this arena, a little exposure.

So...

Submissions should focus on themes indigenous to Candy: loss, betrayal, pain, isolation, suffering, the many faces of love, sex, death, suicide, hopelessness, and all that darkness touches. A little catharsis thrown in is okay as well, but if you know Candy, you know what I mean - there are already plenty of sunshiny, happy happy, up-with-people poetry pages out there.

We are not one of them.

If we choose your work to be featured, we’ll let you know and post it on the site’s "Dead End: City Limits" page for about a month. Each month we’ll choose another poet to feature. We’ll also archive the accepted work of everyone who is featured so people can come back and read it after it has been featured. We’re new at this, so please be patient. If you’ve ever read the annual Poet’s Market books, you know that many of the publications who do what we are attempting here, say that they can take up to two years to even respond to your submissions, and can take even longer to publish what they’ve chosen.

We’ll make every effort to not be that bad.

Sadly, as with most poetry on the web, we pay no fee to post your work, however, my ultimate goal is to produce an actual, annual, physical anthology/book of the featured writers’ works after the seventh and final Candy comic book has been released, and publish a book of said poetry/prose, which is certainly a great avenue and opportunity for any unknown poet.

To those ends, if you would like to submit your poetry/prose to us, fill out and submit the following form.
